In 1936, for reasons unknown, Dorothy L Sayers abandoned the last Lord Peter Wimsey detective story. She had written six rough chapters, and devised a plot diagram in coloured inks. When sixty years later a brown paper parcel containing a copy of the manuscript turned up in her agent's safe in London, her literary trustees commissioned Jill Paton Walsh to complete it.
"It is impossible to tell where Dorothy L Sayers ends and Jill Paton Walsh begins. It is simply like reading another Sayers novel." Ruth Rendell THE SUNDAY TIMES.
